It can grow between 1.5 and 1.9 meters tall and weigh between 30 and 50 kg. It has brown/grey, soft and feathery plumage, which it uses to protect itself from extreme temperatures.

Did you know that it appeared in Australia in 1932 during the famous ""Emu War""? Due to the damage these birds were causing to agricultural crops, the Australian army was called in to control the birds. They tried to reduce the emu population, but the operation failed spectacularly. The emus were fast and elusive, and in the end the army had to withdraw, realizing that the emus were far too agile to be caught in large numbers.
